Over the course of two academic years, we used grant funding received from the Arts Council for Wales to run our Lead Creative Schools projects. In the first year, our learners in Year 6 completed a project called ‘The Blue Abyss’ and teamed up with the ‘Project Seagrass’ charity which was founded by Doctor Leanne Cullen-Unsworth and Dr Richard Unsworth. The first project culminated in a showcase event which was first shared with the whole school, and then with parents, representatives of Project Seagrass, WWF Cymru, Arts Council Wales, Darland High School and some of our school governors. Following our showcase event, we were invited to Cardiff by WWF Cymru – we showcased some of our work on the steps of the Senedd before having a tour of the Senedd with MS Leslie Griffiths and presenting MS Julie James with a petition on behalf of Project Seagrass.

What Really Matters On Our Doorstep
In year 2 of the project, learners from years 1 and 2 collaboarted on their ‘What Really Matters on Our doorstep’ project. The project ended with a live exhibition of their work at school where the pupils ‘curated’ their work for the visitors who came to school to share it.
