Our Curriculum

At St. Peter’s we follow our C.R.E.A.T.I.V.E curriculum to ensure that all of our learners experience a broad and balanced education during their time with us. Click on the presentation below to find out more:

The ‘Four Purposes’

The Four Purposes are the core principles of the Curriculum for Wales, designed to develop capable adults by fostering: Ambitious, Capable Learners who enjoy challenge and lifelong learning; Enterprising, Creative Contributors who apply skills to new situations; Ethical, Informed Citizens of Wales and the world; and Healthy, Confident Individuals ready for fulfilling lives.

See our presentation to explain how we use the Four Purposes in our school curriculum:

Health and Well-Being: Relationships and Sexuality Education

‘Health and Wellbeing-R.S.E’ is delivered to all year groups within the school and is marbled throughout the curriculum, as well as being taught in stand-alone lessons. Through this inclusive curriculum, the pupils learn about many things such as healthy and unhealthy relationships, how to keep themselves safe online, the correct terminology for the parts of the body and about people who help us. The Health and Well-Being and R.S.E curriculum is designed to build the children’s self-esteem and self-awareness, inform them about the changes that happen to the body and mind as they grown up and boost their self-confidence. Through resources such as ‘My Happy Mind’, the children also learn about how their brain works and learn strategies to support their learning and calm their emotions, such as breathing techniques and mindfulness.

My Happy Mind
The myHappymind App is for parents and carers of children at myHappymind schools. It is designed to inform you about the myHappymind program and to help you to embed myHappymind habits at home.

Hwb

All learners in Wales have a ‘Hwb’ account. This account allows them to access the full package of Microsoft software, for free, and to access Google Classroom. As well as this, there is a vast amount of information about the Curriculum for Wales available on the site. The ‘J2E’ apps feature lots of brilliant games and resources which pupils can access to support their leaning. All of our pupils should know their Hwb login details so that they can use these resources at home but, if they need a reminder of these, please contact the school office and we’ll be happy to share them again.
